About the team

The Risk Governance Team is responsible for perceiving and reducing the prevalence of bad ads, risk management platform enhancement, and AI-assisted governance capabilities. We aim to provide proactive, precise, and scalable operations to preserve TikTok as a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for our users.

About the role

We are looking for a Risk Strategy & Operations Analyst to design risk control strategies for TikTok Commercial Ads. This role covers content security, behavioral risks, advertiser integrity, and other bottom-line user experience risks, based on ad content, historical data, expert insights, public opinion, legal/regulatory trends, and AI/LLM-powered analysis workflows. The ideal candidate should be able to turn ambiguous risk problems into structured strategies, data-driven insights, and AI-assisted operational solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret, analyze, and assess critical risks, emergency situations, and potential challenges. Develop and implement risk control operational plans while balancing business revenue objectives with effective risk control.
  • Drive risk metric diagnosis by attributing metric fluctuations, quantifying the differentiation power of risk features, and identifying scalable governance opportunities.
  • Explore, design, and iterate AI/Agent-assisted operational workflows, including automated risk signal discovery, evidence extraction, case triage, policy reasoning, anomaly monitoring, and strategy recommendation.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate governance needs into intelligent risk platforms, AI-assisted tools, processes, and mechanisms.
  • Define evaluation criteria and feedback loops for AI-enabled governance solutions, including precision, recall, operational efficiency, and business impact.
  • Accumulate and leverage risk mitigation and security capabilities to continuously improve the accuracy, scalability, and automation level of commercial ads risk governance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 1+ years of experience in risk management within the internet industry, such as content risk, account risk, ads risk, fraud risk, advertiser integrity, or post-conversion risk, with strong risk sensitivity and rapid response capability.
  • Strong proficiency in data-driven operations and statistical analysis, with hands-on experience using SQL and/or Python to diagnose problems, evaluate strategies, and support decision-making.
  • Practical understanding of AI/LLM applications, such as prompt engineering, AI-assisted analysis, workflow automation, agent-based tools, or human-in-the-loop review systems.
  • Ability to break down ambiguous risk problems into structured analytical, operational, and productized solutions.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to efficiently drive cross-functional project implementation.
  • Fluency in both English and Mandarin required: the role involves frequent communication with global teams, clients and stakeholders in English-speaking regions as well as Chinese-speaking markets. Proficiency in Mandarin is essential to effectively engage with Chinese-speaking partners, understand cultural nuances, and navigate business transactions in key markets, ensuring smooth cross-cultural collaboration and market expansion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in business integrity, commercial risk management, ads risk strategy, content safety, platform governance, fraud risk, or trust and safety.
  • Hands-on experience building or deeply using AI agents, LLM-based workflows, RAG systems, prompt/evaluation frameworks, model-assisted review tools, or operational automation tools.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering or data science teams to design AI-powered internal tools, risk platforms, decision engines, case investigation systems, or reviewer productivity solutions.
  • Familiarity with model evaluation, risk taxonomy design, policy reasoning, multimodal content understanding, automated investigation workflows, or large-scale review operations is a strong plus.
  • Strong ownership and curiosity toward emerging AI capabilities, with the ability to identify where AI can meaningfully improve governance quality, speed, and scalability.

Pay

  • Base salary range: $108,000 - $208,800 annually (may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location)
  • Eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units

Benefits
