Risk Officer ($15k Signing Bonus!)

About the role
The successful candidate will be a strategic, collaborative, and solutions-oriented leader with deep expertise in public-sector risk management, workers’ compensation, insurance, workplace safety, and leave administration. This executive-level position requires navigating complex regulatory environments, building strong partnerships across departments, and advising executive leadership and elected officials on organizational risk, compliance, and operational strategy. The ideal candidate is an innovative problem solver who inspires high-performing teams, drives continuous improvement, and is passionate about protecting the County’s workforce, assets, and ability to deliver exceptional public service. This is an “at-will” management position.
Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical path includes:
- Six or more years of full-time, progressively responsible professional experience in risk management covering general liability, property, and workers’ compensation claims and insurance for a large, diverse organization; public-sector experience is highly desirable.
- A bachelor’s or higher degree in public or business administration, accounting, finance, risk management, insurance, or a closely related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Professional Risk Manager (PRM), or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) are highly desirable.
- A valid California driver’s license, maintained in good standing throughout employment.
Pay
$165,942.40 – $201,323.20 annually.
