Risk Manager I

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in clinical health care with Master’s preferred
• Three to five years nursing and/or other clinical experience required in special care units, ICU’s, ER, Shock Trauma, etc.
• Previous experience in risk management, patient safety or quality assurance preferred
• Paralegal knowledge also an asset

Responsibilities

• Investigates adverse events, near misses, and potential claims and suits
• Participates in developing and implementing loss prevention methodologies and patient safety initiatives in designated areas or entities
• Gathers and analyzes data and prepares reports
• Keeps management informed about significant developments
• Other duties as assigned

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors including the successful candidate’s geographical location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/ training and other qualifications.
