About the role
This position proactively identifies areas of liability exposure regarding patient safety and quality concerns and coordinates the reporting of such information to appropriate entities for analysis and action to reduce the likelihood of loss and improve patient outcomes. This position is part of the Risk Management Department and interfaces with multiple departments.
Responsibilities
- Maintains systems within the organization to detect, monitor, prevent, organize, measure, investigate, report, and manage patient adverse events, malpractice claims, incident reports, and other indicators of potential patient harm.
- Collaborates with multiple departments in identifying performance improvement opportunities.
- Facilitates Root Cause Analysis and supports internal and external defense efforts.
- Tracks, trends, and investigates occurrences, potentially compensable events, and preventable adverse events.
- Works with clinical and medical staff on issues related to concerns of liability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field is required.
- Preferred clinical background and/or healthcare experience.
- Risk Management/Quality Improvement experience preferred.
- Proficient computer skills including expertise in Microsoft Excel, with compilation of spreadsheets, and accompanying charts/graphs.
Qualifications
- CPHRM or CPHQ certification preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Word.
- Able to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
