Risk Management Specialist

Will be responsible for partnering with the administrative leadership team and department management teams to provide continual risk assessment; participate in development of comprehensive policies and procedures, compliance training, and protocols; conducting internal investigations. Performs data collection, data analysis, and monitoring of Occurrence Reports (incidents) for the hospital and all satellite locations; conducts audits based on trending occurrence events or other potential risks. Helps meet all federal and state requirements as they pertain to patient complaints. Assists in performing and maintaining HIPAA audits. Collaborates with Medical Directors in preparing timelines and gathering information for Peer Review Committee; conducts patient tracers to identify process improvements; other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in policy, procedure, and process review, correction, and development.
  • Performs internal compliance investigations and audits throughout the hospital campuses as well as affiliate locations, including compiling detailed reports with recommendations to the Compliance Officer and management.
  • Coordinates patient complaints, including keeping a detailed log of complaints, manager follow-up for chart review, contacting the patient, and issuing recommendations & Findings report to the Director of Compliance.
  • Logs all recalls sent to the hospital, ensures the recall reaches the appropriate personnel in a timely manner, follows up to confirm resolution, and logs the resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Compliance and/or the Chief Compliance Officer.

Requirements

  • Associate degree required; LPN or RN preferred.
  • 2 - 3 years of hospital experience; customer service experience.
  • Must communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, in a timely manner.
  • Competent background in mathematics and statistics to perform analyses and compile reports.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and evaluate regulations and guidelines to apply them effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with patients, families, co-workers, supervisors, and management.
  • Ability to influence change without direct authority and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrates personal integrity and maintains confidentiality of patient and facility information.
  • Self-motivated with keyboard, word processing, and spreadsheet computer skills.
