Risk Insurance Manager

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Insurance & Risk Manager to oversee commercial insurance claims and support organization-wide risk management initiatives for about 20 hours/week. This role will partner with internal stakeholders and external insurance providers to manage claims, evaluate operational risk, and contribute to the continued development of the company's risk management program.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, detail-oriented professional who enjoys managing complex claims, improving processes, and working across multiple business functions. Preference for Central or Mountain time zones (Dallas, Denver, Chicago).

Key Responsibilities

• Manage commercial insurance claims from initial reporting through final resolution, ensuring timely handling and accurate documentation.
• Serve as a trusted resource for internal teams by providing guidance on insurance coverage, claims processes, and risk-related matters.
• Review operational activities and identify potential areas of risk, providing recommendations to support sound business practices.
• Coordinate with insurance carriers, brokers, adjusters, and third-party partners throughout the claims lifecycle.
• Maintain accurate claims documentation, reporting, and records while tracking trends and key performance metrics.
• Analyze claims data to identify opportunities for process improvements and risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support organizational risk management initiatives and ensure compliance with internal policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in insurance, risk management, claims administration, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of commercial insurance claims and risk management principles.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience using a Risk Management Information System (RMIS), such as Origami or a similar platform, is preferred.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
