Risk Analysis Associate

About the role

Hilltop Securities is looking to hire a Risk Analysis Associate to join the Strategic & Risk Management team. This role helps build a robust governance framework to manage the firm’s market, liquidity, and credit risks.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze risks, including operational, market, and credit, within our business units and ensure alignment with established enterprise policies and control frameworks.
• Ability to reliably manipulate and analyze large data sets to identify trends, patterns, and recommend areas for improvement.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to implement risk mitigation measures and enhance report automation.
• Maintain records, ensuring accuracy with great attention to detail to support counterparty risk reporting for business heads and executive management.
• Evaluate, monitor, and report on counterparty credit exposures and trends.
• Partner with experienced subject matter experts to build knowledge of covered products and relevant risk trends.
• Interact with internal stakeholders to identify, analyze, and help resolve complex problems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited university with a degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Previous experience in a financial institution a plus.
• Working knowledge of financial markets, fixed income products, and trading lifecycle a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office products including extensive knowledge of MS Excel.
• Candidate MUST have authorization to work for any employer in the US without requiring sponsorship.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and interpret large data sets.
• Working knowledge of Excel/VBA, SQL, Python, and data visualization tools such as Tableau is a plus.
