About the role

This Regulatory Specialist position supports city, county, railroad, and Corps of Engineers permitting processes. The project is scheduled to run June–September this summer.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures permits are acquired correctly and promptly.
  • Communicates directly with clients regarding agreement language, compensation, insurance requirements, bonds, and long lead items.
  • Collaborates with permit agents, survey crew, drill crew, and recording crew to maximize efficiencies.
  • Participates in permit project start-up meetings to ensure full understanding of all topics discussed.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork.
  • Researches ownership for surface and/or minerals.
  • Negotiates and acquires necessary surface and/or mineral permits for crew access.
  • Works directly with project managers, engineers, and surveyors to obtain required documents such as calculations, pipeline specifications, and exhibits.
  • Supports surveying, drilling, and recording phases, ensuring permit stipulations are followed and addressing issues as they arise.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (four-year degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of survey drawings, engineering drawings, and alignment sheets.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate as a team player.
  • Attention to detail, with strong planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and work an adjusted schedule or overtime as needed.
  • Compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Spends time in both office and field environments.
  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
