Righand - Floorhand - Pulling Unit

Job Summary

The Righand works under the direction of the Rig Operator and is part of a crew responsible for the maintenance and day‑to‑day operation of service rigs.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance of draw works.
• Load and off‑load pipe and assist in rig movement.
• Check snub lines, pull lines, shackles, and cable clamps to verify condition.
• Inspect dies in slips and tongs, as well as all safety and riding belts, to verify condition.
• Respond to emergency situations, including hydrogen sulfide detection and major mechanical or structural failures.
• Latch and unlatch tubing and rods.
• Prepare and set up the rig for workover operations.
• Diagnose well problems.
• Cut and thread pipe.
• Perform service maintenance on rigs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of types of pipe, thread types, tubing sizes, and rod sizes.
• Understanding of how pumping units operate.
• Familiarity with working derricks.
