Richmond – Energy Regulatory Associate
About the role
The Energy & Infrastructure Team at Hunton seeks an associate to join its Richmond office. Ideal candidates have 2-3 years of relevant experience, though exceptional candidates with less experience are also considered. Prior energy regulatory experience is preferred but not required; candidates with an interest in the energy sector are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong communication skills, intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and a willingness to collaborate.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and filing of regulatory filings with federal and state agencies
- Research and analyze complex regulatory issues related to energy matters
- Prepare and present legal opinions and memoranda to clients and colleagues
- Participate in client meetings and provide legal advice
- Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents
Requirements
- Virginia bar membership preferred, but required within one year of employment
- Strong academic credentials, typically a JD from an ABA-accredited law school
- Excellent analytical and writing skills
- Experience in energy regulation or a related field

Pay
The expected salary range for this position is $235,000 to $310,000. Actual salary offers may vary based on a variety of factors.
