RFP: Witt School Abatement (20 Hyde Park Road)

The Town of Stafford, Connecticut, is requesting sealed bids from qualified contractors for the Abatement of the former Earl M. Witt School at 20 Hyde Park Road in Stafford, Connecticut. The scope of work includes, but not limited to, the abatement of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) and polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB)-containing materials within the approximately 44,498-square-foot former school building, in accordance with the attached Hazardous Building Materials Investigation and all applicable regulations. Upon completion, the building shall be secured with permanent chain-link fencing and plywood over openings to restrict access and ensure public safety.

• Question Submission Deadline: 5:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, May 26, 2026
• Question Response Deadline: Thursday, May 28, 2026
• Proposal Submission Deadline: 2:00 p.m. EST on Monday, June 8, 2026*

Bid Submission Information

• A pre-bid conference will be held on May 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the project site.
• The conference is not required to submit a bid, but attendance is strongly encouraged.
• Technical questions can be directed electronically to Peter Botticello at Weston & Sampson at Botticello.Peter@wseinc.com through May 26, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
• An interpretation of all questions so raised which, in the Engineer’s opinion requires interpretation, will be emailed to prospective bidders at the addresses given by them by May 28, 2026.
• Sealed bids for the Witt School Abatement for the Town/City of Stafford, Connecticut, will be received at the Stafford Town Clerk until 2:00 PM prevailing time, on June 8, 2026,* at which time said bids will then be publicly opened and read aloud in the Veterans Meeting Room at Warren Memorial Town Hall (1st Floor).
