Qualifications
BA/BS in Systems Engineering or equivalent experience; 10-plus years of RF and Radar experience. Master's Degree or PhD in related field may be substituted for bachelors degree and 3 years of experience.
Self-starter with the ability to complete complex tasks independently.
Highly collaborative team player.
Proficient in project management, research techniques, risk management, data collection, analysis, technical writing, and presenting formal/technical information.
Capable of executing research and development projects with minimal supervision.
Able to communicate complex technical material and test findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated success in working with ambiguous requirements and refining them over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Support GDIT program with UAS detection and mitigation technology/system research, testing, and evaluation efforts.
- Prepare and execute test plans and test cards for UAS detection and mitigation technologies.
- Develop a performance specifications framework for each type of UAS detection and mitigation technology.
- Support planning and coordination efforts for the deployment, testing, and evaluation of UAS detection and mitigation technologies/systems.
- Perform hazard analysis and safety-related analyses prior to conducting UAS detection and mitigation testing/evaluations.
- Conduct spectrum interference testing at each airport before testing UAS detection and mitigation technologies/systems.
- Develop a methodology and ranking criteria for selecting UAS platforms for testing against detection and mitigation technologies/systems.
- Assist UAS detection and mitigation technology/system vendors with deployment, operation, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, data collection, and removal.
- Test and evaluate the performance capabilities of UAS detection and mitigation technologies/systems.
- Review, analyze, and report on the data collected during the testing and evaluation period.
- Develop pass/fail criteria and metrics for testing/evaluating UAS detection and mitigation technologies.
- Fully document all UAS detection and mitigation technology/system test and evaluations performed.
- Continually review and analyze collected data to prepare draft Engineering Brief/Advisory Circular language or other guidance documents.
- Prepare guidance for best practices in managing the effective use of UAS detection and mitigation technologies/systems at airports.
