RF Engineering Intern (Spring 2027)

Description

As an RF Engineering Intern, you will design, manufacture, and test custom RF systems. You will collaborate with RF, avionics, software, and mechanical engineers, contributing to spacecraft RF system development, including component selection, bench testing, system bring‑up, and manufacturing. This internship runs for 12 weeks from January through May 2027.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and select RF components from various vendors for system integration.
• Run simulations and generate link budgets for early‑stage wireless designs.
• Design and execute validation plans for RF system designs.
• Work on RF schematics, layout, and manufacturing for test and/or flight products.
• Utilize simulation software such as CST, HFSS, and ADS to design RF front‑end components.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience troubleshooting PCBs at the board or system level.
• Understanding of RF and microwave concepts (transmission lines, S‑parameters, amplifiers, splitters, etc.).
• Familiarity with hands‑on lab work and test equipment.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Python scripting experience.
• Previous use of simulation tools such as ADS, CST, HFSS, etc.
• Experience working with test setups for power amplifiers (PAs), low‑noise amplifiers (LNAs), or filters.
• Experience collaborating with hardware and software engineers.
• Proficiency with Altium Designer.

Additional Requirements

• Willing and able to work on‑site in Redondo Beach, CA for the duration of the internship.
• May require overtime hours; interns are eligible for overtime pay.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual (as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), or eligible to obtain the required ITAR authorizations.

Compensation

$32.00 per hour. Overtime pay is available as applicable.
