Engineering$110k–$175k/yrFull-time

Stellant Systems Inc. (Stellant) is seeking an experienced RF Engineer to develop and maintain high-performance RF integrated microwave assembly and power amplifier products for space applications. We bring cutting-edge technology to mission-critical aerospace and defense programs, supporting commercial and government systems for orbital or terrestrial use. Stellant has delivered over 7000 active RF units since 1996, spanning UHF to Q-band.

About the role

The primary role is technical ownership of design, development, and production troubleshooting for RF/microwave assemblies and power amplifiers built in both SMT and chip-and-wire construction. As a senior engineer, you will guide a multi-disciplinary team through proposals, development, and production to meet program commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Detailed design and schematic capture of RF/electronic circuits and overall product.
  • Develop functional specifications for RF power amplifiers and integrated microwave assemblies.
  • Support proposals for existing and future products.
  • Perform design tweaks through full new designs for active RF products.
  • Ensure bare die and bond wire layout designs meet requirements.
  • Execute qualification on new development hardware.
  • Release engineering design packages to production configuration management.
  • Set up and calibrate RF test benches for Gain, Power, NF, and VSWR measurements.
  • Develop automated methods for sub-system testing.
  • Design power amplifier matching networks using non-linear models.
  • Support production builds on development and flight hardware.
  • Conduct root-cause investigations on built hardware.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics or an engineering discipline; master’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum 4–9 years of relevant engineering experience (level III: 4 years, level VI: 6 years, level V: 9 years; advanced degree may substitute for professional experience).
  • 6+ years of direct RF and microwave assemblies experience.
  • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment: network analyzers, power meters, bench power supplies, signal/waveform generators, high-speed oscilloscopes, noise figure analyzers, spectrum analyzers.
  • Proficiency with Microwave Studios CST, Ansys HFSS, Microwave Office, ADS, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with development milestones: PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, and RF device qualification.
  • Experience supporting space hardware strongly preferred.
  • Proposal experience.
  • Hands-on manufacturing engineering experience a plus.
  • Experience with engineering drawings and writing technical instructions.
  • Computer programming skills a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; experience presenting to internal/external customers a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines (program managers, engineers, operations staff).
  • Root-cause analysis experience a bonus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or ITAR-protected individual.

Pay

$110,000–$175,000/year, depending on experience.
