About the Role
RTX’s Effector RF Design Department is seeking an Electrical Engineer I for an RF design position. The successful candidate will contribute to detailed design, simulation, product development, and initial product testing for radar and datalink applications on tactical missile programs. This role involves designing RF and microwave hardware, including transmitters, receivers, and exciters, while working within challenging mechanical constraints and extreme environments. Candidates will work within a larger team and have access to career development opportunities, including technical mentors and shadowing experienced professionals.
Responsibilities
- Design and test activities spanning preliminary design to integration for radar and datalink applications.
- Design and optimize RF circuits, including chains of components (e.g., receivers, exciters) or individual parts (e.g., filters, limiters, couplers).
- Perform component characterization, module verification, and integration in a lab environment.
- Test and handle sensitive RF hardware.
- Support the design of circuit and assemblies (CCAs) with RF or mixed signals.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including power, digital, and mechanical engineers.
- Perform schematic capture and detailed design.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM major (obtained by start date).
- Experience and/or coursework in programming and/or simulation using MATLAB, SIMULINK, C/C++, or equivalent language.
- Experience and/or coursework in two or more of the following:
- Communication theory
- Digital signal processing
- Probability theory
- Stochastic signal processing
- RF and electromagnetic theory
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with a focus in digital communications, communications systems design, data link hardware development, waveform algorithm development, or digital signal processing.
- ABET accreditation (preferred but not required).
- Solid background and practical understanding of RF electronics design considerations (including relevant coursework or experience).
- Experience with tools such as Mentor Xpedition xDX Designer, System Vision, MATLAB, MathCad, CST, Microwave Design Studio, HFSS, or ADS.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $57,200 – $108,800 USD.
