About the role

We are seeking an experienced Bench Technician with strong expertise in semiconductor RF repair to join our Internal Repair Facility in ATMC, Austin.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex automatic and logic-controlled electronic systems at the component level
  • Perform troubleshooting and failure analysis of RF equipment, including matchers and generators
  • Modify and test sub-components to meet operational requirements
  • Conduct detailed root cause analysis of major equipment malfunctions
  • Set up, operate, and adjust advanced diagnostic and measurement instrumentation
  • Develop or improvise circuits or test setups to support unique repair scenarios
  • Work independently to complete assigned repairs with minimal supervision
  • Maintain documentation and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and customers

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong background in RF electronics repair, preferably in semiconductor equipment
  • Solid knowledge of: Analog and digital electronics, Circuit design (intermediate level), Diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques
  • Proficiency with complex test equipment and instrumentation, Voltage meters, ESR, Oscilloscope, Signal generators etc.
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Skills to read schematics and understand circuits
  • Repair RF Matchers and Generators as well as complex PCB and Controllers using root cause methodology down to component level
  • Able to perform post repair testing with knowledge of load testing and or signal generation
  • Enter information into our internal database
  • Perform through-hole, surface mount and fine pitch soldering
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Able to adapt in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with shifting priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds as needed
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Adherence to all safety protocols, including: Electrical safety, Mechanical safety, Chemical safety

  • Dynamic workload with evolving priorities
  • Regular interaction with customers, technicians, and management

Qualifications

  • Minimum associates degree in Electronics
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in bench repair field on Matching units and Generators (i.e. Advanced Energy, Odyssey)
  • Experience in RF theory and AC/DC circuit design

Additional Skills And Targeted Experience

  • Understanding of Smith Charts, spectrum analyzer
  • High Power DC supply repair, testing and calibration ranging from 1kW to 80kW
  • AC and DC Servo/Stepper motor rebuild and test
  • Advanced experience in AC and DC circuitry, advance test equipment, simulation software, and discrete semiconductor characteristics
  • Labview, Multi-Sim, Cadence or equivalent electrical design software
  • Hardware programming language (VHDL, Verilogic, JTAG, etc.)
