We are seeking a full-time Rework Operator (2nd Shift) in our Olathe, KS location.

About the role

In this role, you will work in one or more vital areas of Customer Repair to maintain Customer Unit compliance in Receiving, Shipping, and Repair. You will rework returned or defective product by applying Engineering Change Orders and ensure units conform to their Bill of Materials.

Responsibilities

  • Receive product onto the Customer Repair system, including sorting and opening customer product and receiving units into Oracle and MS Access.
  • Operate standard test equipment and conduct functional, operational, and environmental tests on products.
  • Exchange consumer and marine products, including transferring customer data and corresponding with customers through typed Service Reports.
  • Ship product, including weighing, packaging, boxing, and processing units into the Kewill database.
  • Rework and repair Taiwan product, including testing, board-level replacement, minor component repair, performing Engineering Change Orders, packaging units per the Bill of Material, and recording test results.
  • Comply with HRD-003 (Garmin’s Attendance Policy) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements.
  • Remanufacture product, including inspecting product to determine stocking level, uploading the latest software to units, and testing functionality.
  • Maintain cleanliness in designated zone areas, wearing Garmin-provided personal protective equipment, including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear), for the entire shift to minimize electrostatic discharge (ESD) risks.
  • Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure associate safety.
  • Lift up to 30 pounds using safe lifting techniques.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • High degree of dexterity and eye coordination to manipulate buttons, switches, hand tools, and knobs on delicate equipment, products, and parts.
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills for respectful work-related communication (in person and email) with peers and associates from other departments.
  • Mechanical aptitude with attention to detail for associates operating machinery.
  • Ability to bend, twist, and lift up to 30 pounds using safe lifting techniques, stand for an entire shift, and walk long distances throughout the facility.
  • Ability to sit, stand, look down, bend, twist, and use hand dexterity for up to 10 hours.
  • Basic computer operational skills.
  • Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

Qualifications

  • Electronics training or work experience.
  • 2+ years of soldering experience.
  • Ability to type 35 WPM.
  • Ability to speak and understand foreign languages.
  • Customer service and phone experience.
