Revenue Cycle Specialist III (Emergency)
About the role
The Revenue Cycle Specialist III works under general supervision and following established practices, policies, and guidelines of revenue cycle management. Supporting hospital, professional fee billing, and collections, this position requires expert knowledge, skill, and proficiency in CS-Link functions and multi-specialty areas of the revenue cycle.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing and submitting claims to payors
- Performing account follow-up activities
- Updating information on patient accounts
- Processing credits and posting payments
- Account reconciliations
- Developing and maintaining relationships with clinical departments, external clients, and patients
- Responding to patient, insurance company, and other authorized third-party inquiries
- Advancing new services for appropriate pseudo-code creation
- Identifying and coordinating coding reviews to ensure accurate charge capture
- Discussing cash pricing for cosmetic services and managing credits
Requirements
Expert knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements, payor contracts, and CSHS policies governing billing and collections. Sound interpretation of same. Research, analyze, and resolve complex cases and problem accounts with minimal assistance. Serves as a technical resource (subject matter expert) to others and may act in the absence of the lead and/or supervisor.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in revenue cycle management, preferably in a healthcare setting. Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently. Proficient in CS-Link and CPT/ICD-10 knowledge.
Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of healthcare billing and coding standards.
