Revenue Cycle Specialist II - Commercial Collections
About the Role
Under general supervision and following established practices, policies, and guidelines, you will provide commercial collections support to Patient Financial Services. Duties include reviewing and resubmitting claims to third-party payors, performing account follow-up activities, updating account information, and more. This role requires advanced knowledge in specialized revenue cycle functions, strong customer service skills, and the ability to interpret and explain payor contracts and Cedars-Sinai billing policies. You may also assist team members and cross-train in other revenue cycle functions.
Responsibilities
- Participate in department meetings and provide feedback to management on process improvements.
- Adhere to verbal and written instructions to achieve desired results and maintain documentation standards.
- Accurately enter data and maintain acceptable levels of speed and accuracy.
- Monitor assigned work queues and workload, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of accounts.
- Take initiative on issues or problems by escalating them to a supervisor.
- Exemplify high standards of professionalism, responsibility, accountability, and ethical behavior.
- Process incoming correspondence based on reason codes in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure account information is complete and accurate, adhering to payment timeline protocols and assisting team members as needed.
- Demonstrate detailed knowledge of Cedars-Sinai’s core patient accounting systems and use them effectively.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; college-level courses in finance, business, or health insurance are a plus.
- A minimum of four years of hospital or professional billing and/or collections experience.
Skills & Experience
- Hospital account follow-up experience with commercial payers.
- Basic computer and navigation skills; experience with MS Office, Web/Vs, Emdeon, and CS-Link preferred.
- Working knowledge of regulatory and Cedars-Sinai policies and procedures.
- Basic understanding of HIPAA and other privacy guidelines.
- Proficiency in relevant business math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Keyboard and data entry proficiency.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with conflicting demands.
- Prioritize and organize work to complete assignments accurately and on time.
