Responsibilities

• Review, verify, obtain, and correct patient demographics, insurance information, medical diagnoses, laboratory/diagnostic services, hospital services, required authorizations, certifications, signatures, and other details for insurance billing and eligibility.
• Resolve payer rejections, denials, and follow-up issues, including analyzing Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) for irregularities and reprocessing claims per policy.
• Investigate and resolve unpaid claims to maximize reimbursement.
• Research and resolve missing or conflicting patient information; request additional forms or details for denied claims or special processing requirements.
• Update work queues and invoices for collection activity according to department guidelines.
• Reconcile accounts accurately, adjusting balances for denials, payments, and modifications.
• Identify trends impacting revenue and communicate findings to management; participate in solutions to reduce denials.
• Follow up on A/R research projects, review account statuses, and provide updates to management.
• Maintain professionalism, attention to detail, promptness, and cooperative communication with coworkers, supervisors, customers, vendors, and patients.
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two or more years of medical billing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of insurance carrier payment policies, practices, and amounts.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under time pressures and interact with individuals at all organizational levels.

Preferences

• Experience with EPIC, Clearinghouse Vendors, and Imaging software systems.

Pay

USD $18.20 - USD $27.29 per hour.
