About the role
The Iowa Clinic is a locally owned and physician-led healthcare organization in Central Iowa, dedicated to exceptional care through collaboration, compassion, and exceeding expectations.
Responsibilities
- Support payment reconciliation processes by researching and resolving payment variances and discrepancies.
- Review and analyze payment posting activity to ensure accurate account balances and financial reporting.
- Manage payer and patient credit balance workflows, including researching, validating, and processing refunds.
- Investigate unapplied payments, overpayments, and underpayments, working with internal teams and payers to resolve issues.
- Collaborate with Payment Posting, Finance, Revenue Cycle, and payer representatives to address payment-related concerns and improve processes.
- Ensure compliance with payer requirements, organizational policies, and patient confidentiality standards.
- Assist with special projects and operational initiatives that require coordination across multiple departments.
- Contribute to process improvement efforts that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and financial outcomes.
- Foster a positive, professional team environment while supporting departmental goals.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a healthcare revenue cycle, payment posting, cash reconciliation, refunds, credit balances, or related financial operations role.
- Experience researching and resolving payment discrepancies, credit balances, or refund requests.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze payment and account information accurately.
Qualifications
- Experience working with insurance payers and healthcare reimbursement processes preferred.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and healthcare billing practices.
