About the role

This position manages patient registrations in Acute Revenue Cycle Patient Access Departments. As the first point of contact for most patients, it provides key customer and financial services, including pre-registration, registration, upfront collections/payment plans, medical necessity checking, and financial counseling.

Responsibilities

  • Register patients for various hospital services, accurately collecting patient information and demographics.
  • Verify and review insurance plans and coordinate benefits on behalf of patients.
  • Manage payments at point of service, including collecting and posting payments, providing receipts, and balancing transactions per shift.
  • Obtain completed authorizations and notifications of admissions for patients.
  • Assist patients with financial clearance of accounts by communicating financial responsibility through estimates, setting up payment plans, and/or providing referrals to financial counselors.
  • Respond appropriately to phone calls, emails, and other forms of communication.
  • Actively promote a positive working environment and maintain open communication.
  • Comply with governmental regulations (HIPAA, TJC, CMS, EMTALA) and department policies.
  • Provide courteous service to all stakeholders by resolving problems, responding to inquiries, and strengthening customer relationships.
  • Cover other shifts and departments as needed within Acute Revenue Cycle Departments.
  • Assist in training new hires and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Proficient typing and spelling skills.
  • Ability to multitask with data entry while using multiple computer applications.
  • High level of customer service, attention to detail, critical thinking, and proficient written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Some college experience in healthcare, business, accounting, or professional certification.
  • Preferred: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a medical field.
  • Preferred: Patient registration or medical office experience.
  • Preferred: Understanding and ability to communicate financial and insurance information.

Pay

$16.22 - $23.52 per hour.
