About the role

The Revenue Cycle Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight for all revenue cycle operations, ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of the organization. This role is responsible for managing claims processing, payment posting, accounts receivable, and denial management while driving performance, compliance, and continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of all revenue cycle functions, including claims processing, billing, cash application, accounts receivable management, denial resolution, reconciliation, and revenue integrity activities.
  • Work hours as prescribed by organizational leadership and fulfill additional responsibilities necessary to meet operational and financial objectives.
  • Maintain positive working relationships across all organizational levels and effectively resolve escalated billing, reimbursement, and customer concerns.
  • Exercise strict confidentiality in accordance with ethical standards, organizational policy, and applicable laws.
  • Participate in system testing, upgrades, and implementation of new EHR and other software functionality impacting revenue cycle operations.
  • Assist in internal audits of billing, documentation, compliance, and recorded services, compile and present audit findings to leadership on a regular basis.
  • Serve as a revenue cycle and financial operations resource to organizational leadership and operational departments.
  • Train, mentor, and provide ongoing education to staff regarding revenue cycle processes, regulatory requirements, and Avatar system functionality.
  • Analyze revenue patterns, payer performance, billing-to-cash outcomes, service utilization, practice patterns, and program-level financial performance.
  • Correlate operational data, including service volume and productivity reports, with financial results reflected in organizational profit and loss statements.
  • Lead denial management efforts through root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and implementation of workflow improvements to reduce revenue loss.
  • Develop, monitor, and evaluate revenue cycle key performance indicators (KPIs) and predictive metrics to identify operational risks, reimbursement trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, payer, and Illinois grant funding requirements, as well as organizational policies and generally accepted accounting practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Previous progressive experience in revenue cycle, billing, or healthcare financial operations, including at least three years of direct supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing, coaching, and developing staff to achieve performance goals.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance regulations, and third-party reimbursement methodologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of state and federal funding programs and regulatory requirements impacting healthcare reimbursement.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel (reporting and data analysis), Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-directed professional with the ability to work independently while fostering collaboration within a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical practices, regulatory compliance, and confidentiality standards (HIPAA).

Qualifications

Pay

$85,000 annual salary

Schedule

Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm
