About the role

The Revenue Analyst II is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and audit functions of a standard system-focused hospital Charge Description Master (CDM). This role ensures the CDM remains compliant with regulatory guidelines, conducts pricing updates, and collaborates with team members to prepare and submit the annual rate filing with the State of Arizona. The position provides advice and support to facility staff, maintains accurate charge capture, and ensures CDM information is properly routed to dependent systems. The role involves extensive data mining and financial analysis to support charge master integrity, revenue, and reimbursement.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Team Leader and/or Project Manager for special projects related to CDM and reimbursement data.
  • Serve as liaison between Revenue Services, support areas, Department Managers, and special task forces/committees representing CDM and charge capture issues.
  • Coordinate internal and external projects related to CDM, including audits, defense audits, and patient complaint audits.
  • Use analytic applications, Excel, and Access to abstract financial and clinical data for reimbursement analysis, forecasting, trend analysis, cost analyses, and financial projections.
  • Analyze patient billing system requirements and validate Charge Master Application maintenance.
  • Research and resolve revenue and billing issues, developing corrective action plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with PFS, Information Systems, Decision Support, and Department Managers on system design, report modifications, and conversion requirements.
  • Monitor compliance initiatives related to CDM data and track regulatory agency activities (e.g., OIG, FBI, Attorneys General) for compliance.
  • Serve as a resource for compliance information on regulations applicable to healthcare providers.
  • Interact with leadership and staff regarding CDM compliance and financial issues.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and audit the standard system-focused CDM, making decisions requiring significant analysis and original thinking.
  • Assist in developing and improving internal controls to ensure sound billing practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of work-related experience in business or healthcare.
  • 2 years of related experience (required).
  • 5–7 years of progressive responsibility in CDM Maintenance and revenue analysis (preferred).
  • Current knowledge of revenue flow in healthcare financial systems.
  • Comprehensive experience with inpatient and outpatient billing requirements (UB-04 and CMS 1500 forms).
