About the role
The Retirement Operations Specialist I oversees, trains, and processes fund adds and transfers, complex large fund or advisor changes, and corrections for employee benefit plan transactions. This role ensures compliance with IRS, DOL, and ERISA regulations, and maintains accuracy in dividend postings.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact and support for all aspects of fund adds and transfers.
- Coordinate complex large fund or advisor changes.
- Participate in meetings and ensure all required documentation is updated accurately and timely.
- Understand, calculate, and trade complex corrections for all correction types.
- Research and determine error origination, provide guidance internally regarding best practices for corrections, and partner with other department leaders to prevent future occurrences.
- Ensure all regulations set by the IRS, DOL, and ERISA are followed.
- Communicate accurately, efficiently, and professionally with both internal and external clients.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance the client experience and build scale.
- Create, update, and maintain written procedures in Alerus procedure (R&R) database.
- Gain and maintain an advanced level of knowledge encompassing all systems and processes pertinent to the position.
- Maintain compliance knowledge of regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Foster a positive work environment and support co-workers in achieving goals.
- Treat all co-workers with professionalism and respect.
- Actively participate in company, department, and team meetings by providing insight, contributions, and feedback.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent related experience.
- One or more years of experience in basic defined contribution plan administration or daily defined contribution plan implementation.
- Knowledge of retirement and recordkeeping systems and recordkeeping operational functions.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with employees and customers.
- Effective interaction with end users and business sponsors.
- Efficient in Microsoft Excel including formulas, pivot tables, and functions.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple assignments.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
- Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.

- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and coworkers.

Pay
$25 - $30 per hour
