About the Role

The Retail Used Firearms Outfitter is responsible for evaluating and purchasing used firearms, ensuring compliance with all legal and company policies, and providing exceptional customer service. This role involves processing firearms transactions, completing necessary forms, and maintaining the department's visual standards.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, appraise, and purchase used firearms using knowledge of firearms and market values.
  • Acquire firearms legally, adhering to ATF, state, and local laws, and company policies.
  • Complete ATF and state forms, certify and screen firearm transfers, and comply with waiting periods and other requirements.
  • Maintain department standards, including restocking, remerchandising, and cleaning fixtures.
  • Participate in ongoing training on firearms, shooting disciplines, systems, compliance, and selling techniques.
  • Provide legendary customer service by assisting with buying decisions, identifying needs, and recommending products.
  • Handle customer issues with good judgment and logic within the scope of the role.
  • Communicate the benefits of company programs to customers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Ability to safely handle firearms.
  • Knowledge of purchasing firearms, either through industry experience or collecting.
  • Understanding of retail and computer systems.
  • Background in current firearms models.
  • Ability to appraise and determine marketable value of used firearms.
  • Strong work ethic and multitasking ability.

Physical Requirements

  • Constantly stand and/or walk during shift.
  • Constantly communicate with others.
  • Constantly repeat motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Occasionally operate machinery and/or power tools.
  • Occasionally ascend or descend ladders, stairs, or step stools.
  • Occasionally work in noisy environments.
  • Light work, including lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds constantly, and up to 50 pounds or more occasionally (with team lift as needed).
