About the Role
The Retail Floor Supervisor is the Manager On Duty (MOD) and is responsible for overseeing daily retail operations, delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining merchandising standards, supporting staff, and ensuring smooth operations throughout the day. This role is responsible for leading, directing and training the retail team on a daily basis with an emphasis on the customer service standards of the Main Golf Shop and/or the Hotel Shops.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible and engaged presence on the sales floor at all times; avoid staying in the office for extended periods.
- Set the tone of professionalism, positivity, and guest-focused energy for the entire team.
- Lead by example in demeanor, communication, and appearance — reflect Pinehurst’s standards of hospitality and brand excellence.
- Be proactive in anticipating issues before they arise (inventory, guest traffic, associate coverage, etc.).
- Team Coordination & Communication:
- Ensure proper break rotations and coverage so that the floor remains supported at all times.
- Maintain open communication with associates — provide direction, support, and real-time feedback.
- Communicate any important updates or incidents to management via end-of-day report or shift notes.
- Guest Experience Excellence:
- Ensure, and coach as needed, all associates are engaging with customers appropriately in attentiveness, tone, posture, and assistance.
- Sales Floor Standards & Merchandising:
- Conduct floor checks every hour to ensure: Tables, racks, and displays are neat and properly sized Merchandise is front-faced and visually appealing. Fitting rooms and counters remain clean and organized.
- Maintain stock levels on core merchandise and any supplies required at their assigned locations.
- Operational Oversight:
- Oversee accurate register operations — ensure all Sales Associates are following POS and gift card procedures correctly.
- Handle voids, discounts, or special transactions in compliance with policy.
- Support processing of returns, exchanges and shipping.
- Report any employee callouts / issues, discrepancies, incidents, or maintenance issues immediately to appropriate leadership.
- End-of-Day Procedures:
- Ensure floor recovery is complete: merchandise folded, displays reset, counters cleared.
- Confirm that closing tasks are completed before leaving.
- Document staffing or scheduling notes for next MOD and staff.

- Store Support:
- Leave the store organized and prepared for the next shift
- Verify all supplies and printed materials are available for staff (forms, printouts, schedules, etc.)
- Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position will supervise 10-15 retail employees.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing customer concerns and resolving problems.
