Retail Store Sales Associate - Portland Market

By exhibiting exceptional teamwork, boundless curiosity, and the utmost care, the Retail Store Sales Associate will assist their team to fulfill Blick’s commitment to our customers, the Arts, and our local communities. The associate maintains outstanding customer service, generates revenue through product knowledge, housekeeping, merchandising, signing, pricing, POS operations, and loss prevention in adherence to all company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Consistently delivers superior customer service by combining sales, product knowledge, and training to meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Completes and utilizes programs: Blick Onboarding Training, Blick Sales Training, Preferred Customer Program, Special Orders, and Custom Services Training from NDS.
• Provides customer service at the Custom Services desk, including making appointments, consulting on projects, taking orders, and delivering completed orders in store.
• Displays an energetic and positive attitude with all customer interactions.
• Assists in coordination of merchandise set‑ups, applies visual standards and techniques, and maintains store presentation as directed by management.
• Follows directions, prioritizes tasks, and meets deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Reports low stock levels, inventory discrepancies, and customer product requests to management as needed.

Requirements

• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Working knowledge of a variety of traditional fine art mediums (paints, markers, pencils, printmaking materials, clay, papers, etc.) preferred.
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds using proper techniques and follow safety rules.
• Prolonged walking, standing, and climbing ladders.
• Minimal local travel may be required.

Schedule

• Flexible schedules including day/evening shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Average of 15–25 hours per week based on availability and business needs.
• Regular attendance in accordance with the retail attendance policy.

Pay

$16.90 – $17.10 per hour plus sales incentives.
