Retail Store Management Internship Summer 2027 - Greater Bay Area: East Bay / North Bay
About the Role
As a Retail Management Intern, you will gain hands-on experience leading a retail team, engaging directly with customers, and learning the day-to-day operations of a successful store. Working alongside Store Managers and District Leaders, you will develop leadership skills, learn retail management best practices, and gain exposure to the broader organization through market travel experiences. You will also complete a business-focused project that addresses a real business opportunity and present your findings and recommendations to leadership.
Responsibilities
- Support a range of operational activities, including merchandise handling, inventory management, and stocking.
- Help the store meet the needs of customers during busy shopping periods, including evenings and weekends.
- Partner with Store Managers and retail leaders to learn leadership best practices.
- Gain exposure to staffing, talent development, customer engagement, and operational excellence.
- Develop an understanding of how business decisions impact store performance and customer satisfaction.
- Participate in leadership development through engagement with field leaders and other retail leaders.
- Complete a business-focused project addressing an opportunity within your assigned store and present recommendations to leadership.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an associate or bachelor's degree program, with expected graduation between May 2027 and May 2028.
- Desired majors: Business Management/Administration, Hospitality, Entrepreneurship, Retail Studies, General Business.
- 1-3 years of customer service experience in a fast-paced environment (retail, food service, hospitality, etc.).
- Effective communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or managerial experience is highly desired.
- Must be interested in pursuing a career in retail store management.
Education
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an associate or bachelor's degree program. Students should expect to receive their degree (associate or bachelor) between May 2027 and May 2028.
Schedule
Candidates must be available to work 35 hours per week for the full 10-week program on a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
Pay
The typical pay range for this role is $20-$22 per hour.
