As a Part Time Retail Store Associate at Office Depot, your role is vital to our continued success in today’s retail landscape. You’ll engage with customers in a friendly and knowledgeable manner, creating a positive shopping experience while driving sales. Store Associates actively connect with customers, addressing their needs by recommending the right products, services, and solutions. Through enthusiasm and expertise, you’ll help create and nurture a vibrant sales culture, enhance visual and merchandising standards, manage freight and logistics, and prioritize unparalleled client satisfaction.
You’ll support a customer-centric environment, engage with the local community, and contribute to a positive culture aligned with the Office Depot 5C values: Caring, Committed, Creative, Collaborative, and Courageous. Training in technology and print products/services ensures you’re equipped to assist customers effectively. You’ll apply cutting-edge sales principles to create satisfying customer interactions and contribute to business growth, particularly in key areas such as Print and Technology.
The ideal Store Associate is passionate about sales, delivering exceptional service, and driving operational excellence. The essential functions of this position may require consent to periodic comprehensive background checks conducted by a third-party.
Responsibilities
- Customer Centric Experience: Proactively acknowledge and engage every customer. Utilize the selling program to promote the best solutions and additional products/services. Stay aware of planned advertisements, promotions, and sales/loyalty programs.
- Store Operations Commitment: Maintain store and print department appearance to company guidelines. Keep a neat, clean, and well-stocked environment. Adhere to signage, labeling, and merchandise presentation standards. Follow sorting and stocking guidelines, complete freight processes, and ensure the freight sorting area is organized. Scan, investigate, and fill inventory lows and outs daily.
- Print and Tech Expertise: Develop personal selling skills and product knowledge through provided sales and service tools, including completion of Tech, Print, and other applicable training. Pursue continued education and designated certifications if required.
- Sales Techniques: Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and loss prevention efforts. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; no previous experience required (retail sales experience preferred).
Skills
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
- Able to use technology and POS systems to access information and process transactions.
- Able to read, write, and count accurately to complete documentation, use training tools, and process inventory.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with customers and coworkers.
- Enjoys interacting with people and working in a customer-facing environment.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $17.13 to $17.50 per hour. All state and local minimum wage laws will be complied with, which may result in an adjustment to the salary range.
