Job Duties
- Responsible for organizing product displays and storage.
- Replenishes inventory in bins, on the floor, or on shelves, according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of material.
- Straightens shelf inventory so labels face out and merchandise is neat, orderly, and easy to shop.
- Checks the condition and prices of the stock on the shelf as stock is being replenished.
- Rotates older stock to the front of the shelf.
- Marks identifying codes, figures, price tags, or letters on merchandise.
- Move, handle, and transport finished products, materials, or supplies to other departments by utilizing hand jacks, lift carts, and other means of transportation.
- Provide customer service while working in a visible space on the floor.
- Determine methods of storage, identification, and stock location, considering temperature, humidity, height, weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space.
- Maintain inventory and other stock records.
- Load, unload, and move heavy, bulky products.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards (including backroom and shelves), and dispose of trash.
- Help and assist customers in finding merchandise and providing them with information.
- Any and all other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications for the position
- Effective time management.
- Background with agricultural products and environment helpful.
- Previous retail experience helpful but not required.
- Must have reliable transportation to work.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills a plus.
- Basic math skills.
- Able to stand for long hours and be able to lift heavy merchandise.
- Able to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
- Able to work both independently and within a team environment.
Physical Expectations
- During the job, employees are regularly required to stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods.
- Use their hands to handle or control objects.
- Perform tasks that involve reaching, climbing, kneeling, or crouching.
- Frequent lifting or moving up to 25 pounds, with occasional requirements to handle more with assistance or equipment.
- Push and pull using various equipment.
- Specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, are necessary.
- Verbal communication and the ability to hear are also required for safety and coordination.
