Retail Station Assistant Manager
Full-time position assisting the station manager with operations and customer service at a Cain Petroleum retail station in Aloha, Oregon.
About the role
This position is responsible for assisting the station manager and providing excellent customer service while fueling vehicles with requested fuel grades. Must be available to open the station on Saturdays and Sundays at approximately 6:00 AM; other shifts throughout the week vary.
Responsibilities
- Completes morning books and paperwork and maintains daily DEQ reporting requirements.
- Prepares daily reports of fuel and oil for store open and close.
- Assists manager with shift coverage.
- Greets customers, answers questions, and provides prompt, courteous service.
- Activates pumps and fills customers' fuel tanks with the correct grade and amount of fuel; provides receipts of sales.
- Handles all payment transactions, including cash, change, and credit card payments, while maintaining an accurate cash register drawer.
- Reports all maintenance concerns.
- Dispenses propane for customers (may not be applicable at all stations).
- Responsible for tobacco sales (may not be applicable at all stations).
- Completes assigned cleaning responsibilities and washes windshields.
- Reports any suspicious activity to a direct supervisor and authorities, if needed.
- Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
- Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
- Respectfully takes direction from supervisor/district coordinator.
- Maintains Chevron Customer First Standards.
- Opens and closes the station when needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to the safety or health of the employee or others.
- Previous experience and/or training in a fuel/gas station environment is required.
- One year of related experience and/or training in management, assistant management, or a supervisory role is preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Minimal computer skills necessary to operate a computer, including logging on, navigating windows, performing simple tasks within applications, and entering information into a database.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers to type or dial, reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
- Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Pay
$17.50 per hour.
