About the role
As a Macy’s Women's Clothing Selling Support colleague, you’ll help customers express their personal style and turn fashion into a source of inspiration. With a passion for hospitality, an eye for trends, and strong product knowledge, you’ll create meaningful connections through genuine, engaging conversations. You’ll actively circulate the sales floor to understand each customer’s needs, share the benefits of our loyalty programs, and guide them through a seamless shopping journey from start to finish.
In addition to delivering exceptional service, you’ll help maintain merchandise standards, support fitting room and sales floor upkeep, and assist with fulfillment to ensure a polished, shop-ready environment. This role goes beyond just being a cashier—here, the customer is at the heart of everything we do, every day, all day.
Responsibilities
- Engage customers with a warm welcome, make eye contact, and create friendly, personal conversations to build relationships and encourage repeat visits.
- Maintain a shoppable space by recovering the sales floor and fitting rooms, updating signs and pricing, and supporting merchandise moves.
- Deliver exceptional service by understanding customer needs, sharing loyalty program benefits, and guiding them through a seamless shopping experience.
- Meet daily sales goals and challenges, including acquiring new customers by opening credit accounts and sharing loyalty benefits.
- Support team members with honesty, care, and collaboration to better serve customers and communities.
- Stay informed about new arrivals, top-selling items, trends, and promotions to engage, educate, and sell with confidence.
- End interactions with a sincere thank-you, often walking the customer to the exit and using their name.
- Strive for continuous improvement, take pride in your work, and learn from colleagues to achieve individual and store results.
Requirements
- Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Comfortable reading and understanding employment policies and safety rules/procedures in English.
- Enjoy meeting people, learning about them, and sharing information.
- Resourceful, adaptable to changing priorities, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Comfortable using electronic devices, including handheld equipment, cash registers, and processing transactions.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Talking, lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands.
- Standing for at least two consecutive hours.
- Lifting at least 25 lbs.
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
- Reaching, including above eye level.
- Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Schedule
Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, while part-time colleagues are typically scheduled 12-24 hours per week. All schedules include weekend shifts as part of the requirements. Hours depend on business needs and colleague availability.
