Retail Sales Representative - CAT Compact
Holt CAT is hiring a motivated Inside Sales Representative for our Cat Compact location in North Dallas. This full-time role focuses on developing, qualifying, and maintaining contact with new and existing customers to achieve rental, sales, and service revenue goals while delivering value-added services and Legendary Customer Service.
About the role
This position acts as the single point of contact for Cat Compact customers, collaborating with internal and external resources to perform ongoing needs analyses and provide tailored solutions. You will proactively manage customer accounts within an assigned territory, develop and qualify leads, and promote all aspects of the organization—including parts, service, labor, and customer service agreements—to meet and exceed business goals.
Responsibilities
- Model, promote, and reinforce Holt’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools and processes to align with the company’s Vision, Values, and Mission.
- Serve as the primary contact for Cat Compact customers, conducting needs analyses to determine solutions and build strong relationships.
- Proactively manage customer accounts within an assigned territory using predetermined touch-points and follow-ups.
- Develop and qualify leads to meet or exceed territorial and corporate business goals.
- Respond to customer needs to enhance satisfaction and foster mutually beneficial relationships.
- Promote and sell parts, service, labor, customer service agreements, and machines while expanding the customer base.
- Submit sales-related reports and documentation in a timely manner to maintain business systems and processes.
- Maintain accurate customer account information, machine population data, and provide input for sales forecasts and expense control.
- Engage in ongoing personal development through annual goal setting to support continuous improvement and leadership growth.
- Assist in managing live inventory.
- Adhere to all safety policies and company procedures while maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Minimum of three years of work-related experience; three to five years preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.

- Knowledge of applicable products, services, accounting principles, budget preparation, and business acumen.
- Ability to cultivate personal relationships over the phone with a flexible communication style and active listening.
- Experience developing new sales opportunities, including marketing campaigns, direct mail, and planned sales calls to qualify customer needs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of selling techniques (prospecting, overcoming objections, closing sales).
- Excellent selling, negotiating, and closing skills with the ability to build long-term business relationships.
- Proficiency with business applications and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to manage difficult customer situations, respond promptly to needs, and solicit feedback to improve service.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze new information and evaluate alternative solutions.

Schedule
- Full-time position.
- Some local travel may be needed for training.
