Overview
The Key Carrying Lead at DICK’S Sporting Goods has a significant impact on both brand standards and the customer experience. This role requires a deep understanding of the business and department, focusing on delivering exceptional service and guiding teammates. The Lead is expected to lead by example, foster a positive team culture, and ensure brand standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Deliver the best service to customers and provide direction to teammates.
- Lead by example, be empathetic, resilient, optimistic, and collaborative.
- Support building and hiring a strong team through in-store interviews and department tours.
- Build a people-first culture by connecting with every teammate to foster mutual trust, respect, and strong store recognition.
- Plan, organize, and control the store's operations 30 days out, including setting up daily assignments, game plans, projects, or store events.
- Strategically leverage teammates to ensure brand standards are met, programs and processes are executed daily, and tasks are delegated based on priority.
- Assist store leadership in supervising the store, including opening and closing, performing Front End and Cash Office functions, and processing firearms sales in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Maintain company merchandising and presentation standards, including following floor sets, signage requirements, price changes, inventory presentation, and replenishment standards.
- Train teammates on company procedures and programs, including onboarding new teammates and cross-training current teammates.
- Absorb and teach the "why" behind tasks, plans, and processes such as Protection Plans, Scorecards, Loss Prevention, etc.
- Create an inclusive store environment where everyone feels welcome and safe and is treated with respect.
- Maintain confidentiality of all company information and support the team across the store.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Prior retail sales experience (or customer-focused experience) preferred.
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 15 to 35 lbs. items repetitively (up to 25 times per hour).
- Ability to work extended periods of time (up to 4 hours) standing or walking.
- Ability to work at heights greater than 4 feet with the use of a ladder, aerial lifting device, or platform.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions for short periods of time (up to 2 hours continuously).
