About the role

The CHEF’STORE Sales Associate helps maintain an atmosphere of superior customer service, promoting the US Foods strategy: Great Food, Made Easy. As a key member of our team, you will fill a variety of roles, including Cashier, Stocker, and Customer Courtesy. During a shift, you may work in any of our departments, such as Meat/Frozen, Produce/Dairy, Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment & Supply, or on the front end assisting customers through checkout. You may also assist during special store events like Vendor Fairs, sales floor resets, and inventory processes.

Responsibilities

• Front End:
  • Ensure all customers have an impeccable CHEF’STORE experience by developing and maximizing relationships.
  • Perform sales and cash functions in the POS accurately, including scanning merchandise, weighing products, and handling discrepancies.
  • Perform cart-to-cart transfer of products, inspect for tampering, and verify purchases as customers leave.
  • Perform store opening and/or closing functions at the front end.
• Sales Floor and Stocking:
  • Increase sales and manage shrinkage while assisting customers in finding products.
  • Receive inventory shipments, stock shelves neatly, and ensure proper product rotation (FIFO).
  • Label merchandise, including blaster tagging, catch weight labels, and PLU tags for produce.
  • Replenish sales floor daily by down stocking freight from top stock using reach trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Assist with price changes and participate in inventory and cycle count processes.
• Customer Courtesy:
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained store environment, including sales floor, front end, restrooms, parking lot, and entry area.
  • Gather carts from the parking lot and ensure they are clean and operable.
  • Notify store management of safety issues and correct them if possible.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Store Management.

Requirements

• Minimum 6-12 months of retail cashier and/or stocking experience.
• One year of retail selling and/or customer service experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Basic computer skills, cash handling experience, and proficiency with general office equipment.
• Ability to work a flexible hourly schedule, including holidays and weekends (Monday - Sunday, 5:00 AM - 7:00 PM).
• Must be motivated, self-driven, and able to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently or within a team.
• Strong customer service skills, adaptability, and willingness to assist other employees.

Physical Qualifications

• Stand and walk continuously.
• Lift and carry up to 100 lbs frequently; over 100 lbs occasionally.
• Push/pull frequently (e.g., hand trucks, gates, straps, metal ramps, dollies).
• Climb/balance frequently (e.g., in/out of trucks/trailers, on/off ramps, stairs).
• Stoop/squat, bend, reach above shoulder, and twist frequently.
• Grasp and manipulate objects continuously (e.g., boxes, hand trucks, paperwork, steering wheel).
• Manual dexterity for typing and using office machines (e.g., copiers, printers).
• Work in varying temperatures ranging from -10 to 85 degrees.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a retail store setting open to the public, with exposure to outside weather conditions, including inclement weather. The noise level is usually moderate. Work surfaces may include ladders or elevated surfaces.

Pay

The starting rate is $17.69/hr. The expected base rate for this role is between $14 - $22, depending on relevant experience, education, skills, function, and geographic location.
