We are seeking entry-level, full-time sales associates in our pawn store locations nationwide. The Pawnbroker / Retail Sales Associate partners with the entire staff of the store to ensure customer service on both the lending and retail sides of the business.

About the role

The Pawnbroker / Retail Sales Associate greets, engages, and interacts with customers in a positive and professional manner to process sales, loans, and other transactions. Associates thrive on engaging with customers and assist with inquiries and problem resolution. The role involves working with a wide variety of jewelry and general merchandise, including tools, electronics, and firearms (in FFL locations). This full-time position offers an hourly wage plus commission based on productivity.

Pay ranges from $13.00 to $16.00 per hour, with an easily achievable commission structure that pays up to 8% on transactions. This could average an additional $2.03 per hour on top of the hourly rate. Actual pay will be based on work location, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and interacts with all customers to develop rapport and recommend appropriate financial solutions.
  • Performs non-management open/close procedures.
  • Keeps the sales floor clean, stocked, and maintains the display of merchandise.
  • Performs sales and loan transactions in accordance with established policies, procedures, practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Handles all cash and negotiable items in accordance with established policies, procedures, practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Answers incoming calls per company standards.
  • Effectively communicates to customers the legal aspects of pawn and buy transactions.
  • Communicates effectively with coworkers and managers, displaying respect and using effective communication tools.
  • Partners with all employees to create a positive and memorable customer experience.
  • Successfully completes assigned training.
  • Assists customers on the exterior of the building (within parking lots and/or property boundaries) or retrieves products stored in exterior storage buildings.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to perform duties and tasks for extended periods, including standing, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Ability to work with firearms and become firearms certified.
  • Minimum age: 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong desire to work, serve customers, and be team-oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations proficiently.
  • Cash handling experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work in multiple locations, as business needs dictate.
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible retail schedule based on business needs, including weekends and holidays.
  • Computer literate and able to operate Point-Of-Sale (POS) systems and common office machines.

Schedule

Most stores open at 9 AM and close at 6 PM; many stores are closed on Sundays. Schedule is flexible based on business needs, including weekends and holidays.

Commission Plan

Pawnbrokers have the potential to earn 2-8% commission based on the gross profit of their personal performance. More details are provided during the interview process.
