Retail Pharmacist - Float

Scope/Position Summary

This position functions to coordinate all aspects of patients' pharmaceutical needs in OSUMC outpatient and retail areas.

Responsibilities

• medication order approval and distribution;
• assurance of appropriate dose, route, frequency and duration of therapy;
• patient medication profile review for drug-drug interactions, duplication of therapy, drug allergy interactions and appropriate regimens;
• patient counseling;
• disease state management;
• coordination of patients' pharmaceutical needs with physicians and nurses;
• Patient population includes pediatric, adult and geriatric patients, must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
• Must be able to demonstrate medication dosing and identify pharmaceutical needs relative to the disease process and age.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with patients, other health care professionals, and insurance companies.
• This position is also responsible for supervising technicians, undergraduate and graduate student teaching, and providing educational programs for hospital/clinic staff (physicians, nurses and pharmacy staff).

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.
• Registered Pharmacist.
• 0 years of relevant experience required.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
