At Office Depot, the Retail Team Lead is a part-time key carrier role providing “total solutions” to our customers encompassing Products, Technology, Services, Furniture and Print offerings. The Retail Team Lead will quickly build and maintain customer relationships and become a trusted advisor by utilizing provided training to support sales offerings. This role supports a customer-centric environment, engagement with the local community, and contributes to a positive culture aligned with the Office Depot 5C values of Caring, Committed, Creative, Collaborative, & Courageous.

About the role

The Retail Team Lead will demonstrate a passion for the brand, technology products, furniture, print, and other services/products offered to customers. This role is part of the management team responsible for opening and closing the store. The position requires availability for evening shifts: 2pm to 9:30pm Monday through Friday, Saturday 12 to 7pm, and Sunday 12 to 6pm, with 3 to 4 shifts per week. This is a great opportunity to gain management experience with a seasoned team.

The Retail Team Lead will act as a part-time "Key Carrier" and may perform Leader on Duty functions, including opening and closing responsibilities. The essential functions of this position may require consent to periodic comprehensive background checks conducted by a third party.

Responsibilities

  • Limited Print Sales and Services:
    • Support efficient operation of the Print function while driving overall store sales.
    • Operate and assist associates on all equipment within the Print Services area to ensure client orders are completed correctly and on-time.
    • Utilize communication tools to request assistance within the Print Services area and coordinate appropriate service for customers throughout the store.
  • Operational Efficiency:
    • Process merchandise accurately and efficiently, adhering to established procedures, deadlines, and visual merchandising standards.
    • Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste and inefficiencies.
    • Ensure regular loss prevention compliance in partnership with all associates.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and practices; support the company’s loss prevention efforts.
    • Contribute to increasing sales and profitability through conversion, Average Order Value (AOV), and customer satisfaction improvement initiatives.
  • Client Engagement:
    • Drive positive client satisfaction levels, including coaching and training associates to enhance the customer experience.
    • Support community outreach initiatives to drive client and customer retention.
    • Develop personal selling skills and product knowledge through provided sales and service tools to deliver total solutions.
  • External Key Carrier and Leader on Duty:
    • Ensure the safety and security of the building and associates during the absence of the management team.
    • Perform opening or closing responsibilities, including alarm system activation/deactivation and processes for opening/closing the store.
    • Drive awareness of key performance indicators and provide guidance to improve results.
    • Assist in reviewing cash handling, cashier and merchandise error logs, register voids, tax exemption, and related cash office audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1–3 years of related experience; sales and/or customer service experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills; able to use job-related technology and POS systems.
  • Attention to detail and, ideally, experience in Print Services.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $16.00 to $17.25 per hour, with compliance to all state and local minimum wage laws, which may result in adjustments to the displayed range.

Schedule

  • Evening shifts: 2pm to 9:30pm Monday through Friday.
  • Saturday: 12pm to 7pm.
  • Sunday: 12pm to 6pm.
  • 3 to 4 shifts per week.
