About the role
At Office Depot, the Retail Team Lead is a part-time role providing “total solutions” to our customers encompassing Products, Technology, Services, Furniture and Print offerings. The Retail Team Lead will quickly build and maintain customer relationships and become a trusted advisor by utilizing provided training to support sales offerings. The Team Lead will support a customer-centric environment, engagement with the local community, all while contributing to a positive culture aligned with the Office Depot 5C values of Caring, Committed, Creative, Collaborative, & Courageous.
The Retail Team Lead will demonstrate a passion for the brand, technology products, furniture, print, and other services/products offered to our customers. The Retail Team Lead will utilize Office Depot's proven sales principles to proactively engage customers, drive sales of our total offerings, and properly assess customer needs to ensure satisfaction in every interaction. Through enthusiasm and expertise, the Retail Team Lead will help create and nurture a vibrant sales culture, enhance the store's visual and merchandising standards, manage freight and logistics activities, and prioritize unparalleled client satisfaction.
The Retail Team Lead will also serve as a part-time ‘Key Carrier’ for their location and may perform Leader on Duty functions. This includes opening and closing responsibilities, alarm system activation/deactivation, and ensuring the safety and security of the building and associates during the absence of the management team.
The essential functions of this position may require you to consent to periodic comprehensive background checks conducted by a third-party.
Responsibilities
- Print Sales and Services: Support efficient operation of the Print function while driving overall store sales. Operate and assist associates on all equipment within the Print Services area to ensure client orders are completed correctly and on-time. Utilize communication tools to request assistance and coordinate appropriate service for all customers.
- Operational Efficiency: Process merchandise accurately and efficiently, adhering to established procedures, deadlines, and visual merchandising standards. Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste and inefficiencies. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and loss prevention efforts. Contribute to increasing sales and profitability through conversion, Average Order Value (AOV), and customer satisfaction improvement initiatives.
- Client Engagement: Drive positive client satisfaction levels, including coaching and training associates to enhance the customer experience. Support community outreach initiatives to drive client/customer retention. Continually develop personal selling skills and product knowledge through provided sales and service tools to deliver total solutions.
- External Key Carrier and Leader on Duty: Perform opening or closing responsibilities, including alarm system activation/deactivation. Ensure the safety and security of the building and associates during the absence of the management team. Drive awareness of key performance indicators and provide guidance to improve results. May assist in reviewing cash handling, cashier and merchandise error logs, register voids, tax exemption, and related cash office audits.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1–3 years related experience; sales and/or customer service preferred
- Basic computer skills; able to use job-related technology and POS systems
- Attention to detail and, ideally, experience in Print Services

Pay
The salary range for this role is $13.00 to $17.50 per hour, with adjustments made to comply with all state and local minimum wage requirements. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, paid in accordance with the Incentive Plan terms and conditions.
