Retail Outdoor Lead

About the Role

At House of Sport, the Outdoor Lead will provide thoughtful product recommendations tailored to the skill and experience level of each athlete. This role is responsible for directing workflow and overseeing daily operations within the Outdoor department under the guidance of the Assistant Store Manager. The Outdoor Lead will build meaningful relationships with athletes in outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, and hiking through elevated customer service. Additional responsibilities include driving results, maintaining Company standards, and assisting with storewide operations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Drive the highest level of customer service within the Outdoor department while adhering to company service and selling standards.
• Provide consultative advice and demonstrate excellent product knowledge to enhance the explorer experience.
• Maintain merchandise presentation standards, including floor sets, signing requirements, price changes, replenishment, recovery processes, and in-stock levels.
• Guide and educate athletes on the use and maintenance of their equipment and accessories.
• Assist the store management team with general supervision, including opening and closing the store, and performing Front End and Cash Office functions.
• Support department scheduling, direct workflow, assign daily tasks to guides, and monitor project status.
• Communicate Company initiatives, programs, and promotions to department guides.
• Maintain Company loss prevention standards and controls.
• Assist with training associates on Company procedures and programs, including new associate training and cross-training current associates.
• Mentor new hires by sharing experience, knowledge, and best practices, and provide timely feedback on projects and tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of experience; prior retail experience preferred.
