Retail Operations Team Member

About the role

Our Sales Associates are responsible for the proper and efficient operation of the station during their shift, within company policy. This includes ensuring the shift contributes to store profitability and growth while meeting customer needs. We empower our team members to deliver best-in-class service every day.

Responsibilities

• Work a flexible schedule as needed.
• Communicate verbally and in writing with management on store operations, especially regarding changes or issues affecting store performance.
• Interact with customers in a friendly, professional manner.
• Prepare a shift report at the end of each shift following company guidelines.
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting every customer with a smile and promoting specials.
• Assume responsibility for executing the customer service program at the site level.
• Minimize safety risks to employees, customers, and suppliers.
• Enforce environmental and hazardous material regulations.
• Maintain safety and security of the store; document accidents or incidents.
• Manage the maintenance of the customer environment inside and around the store.
• Operate all assigned equipment safely and efficiently.
• Support implementation of the Safety and Health program.
• Report workplace accidents, injuries, incidents, or illnesses promptly.
• Complete new employee safety orientation.
• Perform general housekeeping duties as needed.

Requirements

• Read, understand, and write English at an eighth-grade level.
• Perform arithmetic calculations at an eighth-grade level for making change, completing shift reports, and vendor check-ins.
• Validate identification for tobacco and alcohol sales as required by regulations.
• Lift up to 30 pounds and carry cases of products (e.g., milk, soft drinks, beer) using proper lifting techniques.
• Remain calm and respond according to policies during emergencies.
• Tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products.
• Work in various temperature environments (coolers, outdoors, and in-store).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical Requirements

• Ensure physical maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and attractiveness of store facilities.
• Lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Traverse and access all areas of the store.
• Prolonged periods of standing, sitting at a desk, or working on a computer.
