Our client is looking for a Retail Merchandising Project Specialist to support the planning, coordination, and execution of retail merchandising initiatives across North America.

About the role

  • 40 hours per week
  • Onsite in Torrance, CA (Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday)
  • 6-month contract position
  • Target start date: early September

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day project management of retail merchandising initiatives across multiple retail accounts.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, milestones, launch calendars, and critical paths.
  • Coordinate the production, sourcing, distribution, and installation of retail fixtures, signage, POS materials, and merchandising assets.
  • Manage retailer floor set schedules, merchandising requirements, and implementation deadlines.
  • Track project deliverables across internal teams, vendors, agencies, printers, fabricators, and logistics partners.
  • Prepare project documentation, including installation guides, field communications, and execution instructions.
  • Review creative assets for production readiness, proofread materials, and consolidate stakeholder feedback.
  • Coordinate sample reviews, approvals, and quality control throughout project development.
  • Partner with merchandising teams and field representatives to ensure successful in-store execution.
  • Conduct store visits and retail audits to evaluate merchandising quality and maintain brand standards.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication, project updates, risk management, and issue resolution.
  • Support retailer events, demonstrations, seasonal programs, and promotional activations.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience managing retail merchandising, visual merchandising, retail marketing, or store development projects.
  • Experience working with national retailers, consumer brands, retail agencies, or fixture manufacturers.
  • Strong understanding of retail environments, floor sets, planograms, visual merchandising standards, and store execution.
  • Experience coordinating print production, retail signage, fixture fabrication, or POS materials is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, or MS Project.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and utilizing AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for retailer meetings, store visits, and project installations.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
  • Must be physically located in and perform the work in the United States.
