RETAIL MANAGER, DINING SERVICES

About the role
As the Retail Dining Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of multiple retail dining venues within a hospital environment, including cafés, coffee shops, catering services, and physician lounges. This role focuses on delivering an outstanding guest experience, driving operational excellence, managing financial performance, and leading a high-performing team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a passion for hospitality, foodservice operations, and team development.
Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of hospital retail dining locations, including cafés, coffee shops, physician lounges, and catering services
- Ensure exceptional customer service and guest satisfaction across all retail venues
- Lead, coach, train, and develop frontline team members to maintain high performance and service standards
- Support hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives
- Oversee retail merchandising, promotional activities, and marketing efforts to drive participation and sales
- Manage cash handling procedures, point-of-sale operations, and financial controls
- Monitor labor costs, productivity, sales performance, and operating expenses to achieve business goals
- Coordinate and execute catering events, special functions, and hospital-related meetings
- Maintain compliance with company standards, client expectations, health department regulations, and safety requirements
- Complete and review daily, weekly, and monthly operational and financial reports
- Collaborate with department leadership to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies
- Foster strong relationships with hospital staff, physicians, patients, visitors, and other key stakeholders
Qualifications
- 2+ years of foodservice, retail, hospitality, or dining management experience
- Experience managing multiple dining concepts such as cafés, coffee shops, catering operations, restaurants, hotels, healthcare, higher education, or corporate dining environments
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams in a fast-paced service environment
- Catering and event management experience preferred
- Retail merchandising, marketing, and promotional program experience preferred
- Strong understanding of cash handling, revenue management, and retail financial controls
- Excellent customer service, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet applications
- Associate's degree in Hospitality, Business, Culinary Management, or a related field preferred
- Healthcare foodservice experience is a plus
