As a Retail Loan Service Specialist, you'll play a key role in servicing mortgage, consumer, and retail loans throughout their entire lifecycle, from origination through payoff. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to work with loan servicing, escrow administration, secondary market investor reporting, payment processing, and other critical lending functions while making a direct impact on both customer and business success.
Responsibilities
- Review and process daily loan service reports, mail, tickets, and make corrections and adjustments as necessary.
- Advise management of issues, anomalies, etc.
- Onboard all loans directly to the Navigator system including, but not limited to mortgage, consumer, retail, and participation loans.
- Provide timely and accurate payoff quotes as requested by client &/or third-party title insurance companies.
- Process paid notes within expected or required time frames which includes data entry of the transaction, typing of satisfactions or lien releases, and updating all systems appropriately.
- Process loan payments, manage and monitor automatic payment requests.
- Reconcile mortgage accounts.
- Promptly respond to client inquiries and assist in problem solving client issues/needs.
- Assist in maintaining and producing procedures for tasks in job description.
- Reporting and remitting payments, payoffs, etc., to secondary market.
- Work through discrepancies following reporting of data (correct Freddie and FNMA edits and complete ECR’s for MPF Xtra and Traditional loans).
- Promote and maintain positive relations with all internal and external contacts, clients, and potential clients.
- Regularly review and be knowledgeable about bank products and services.
- Refer clients to other personnel to assist with cross selling of bank products.
Escrow Duties
- Process all aspects of the escrow function, including:
- Work with outside vendors to obtain correct real estate tax and insurance premiums amounts and ensure they are paid timely and accurately.
- Review annual escrow analysis notices to ensure accuracy.
- Review system set up to ensure accuracy of payments.
- Monitor loans with Private Mortgage Insurance to ensure compliance.
- Balance with the Private Mortgage Insurance companies to ensure payment is complete and provide additional information if requested.
- Process Private Mortgage Insurance cancellations in accordance with the secondary market guidelines.
- Review and monitor client hazard and flood insurance policies to include updating current insurance information, monitoring reports, paying hazard items from escrow, etc.
- Track and request final title policies and recorded documents.
Other Responsibilities
- Perform other tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job and department, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances.
- Work as part of a team to accomplish office/department goals, including working additional hours as needed and/or taking on additional responsibilities within other rotations.
- Assist with various projects as needed and/or perform other duties as assigned or requested.
- Participate in internal/external training as appropriate.
- Participate in community involvement/bank activities as appropriate.
Requirements
- Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, Business and/or similar field of education and/or 1-2 years previous work experience in a financial institution setting.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (especially listening and verbal) in order to communicate and relate effectively with clients and associates.
- Good accounting/math skills with the ability to work precisely with numbers and financial calculations.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently & accurately.
- Demonstrated ability in exercising independent judgment.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and remain calm while working in a fast-paced/deadline-driven environment.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, proficient typing/keyboarding skills, and the ability and willingness to learn new programs and software.
- Ability to put forth the extra effort necessary to ensure a successful operation, including but not limited to working additional hours, attending educational programs, etc.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English clearly.
- Ability to represent the organization in a professional, positive manner.
- Willingness to work toward the goals and performance standards of the department with a focus on the bank and department mission statements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a consumer/retail/mortgage loan operations area or lending environment, preferably within a financial institution setting.
- Previous experience with FISERV operating systems.
- Good understanding of financial products and services.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with flexibility.
