Retail Licensed Optician Part Time

Essential Responsibilities

• Aid customers with frame selection, fitting, and dispensing.
• Utilize technical information to interpret prescriptions for optimal customer service.
• Provide accurate product information about frames, lenses, and other services.
• Inform customers about benefits covered by third-party insurance.
• Identify customer needs using the SERVE sales process and make appropriate lens recommendations.
• Use demonstration tools to assist in the fitting and dispensing process.
• Analyze and interpret patients' prescriptions.
• Contact the lab and optometrist for prescription accuracy.
• Maintain a clean and organized dispensing area.
• Ensure customer pricing accuracy.
• Maintain license requirements according to state guidelines.
• Offer feedback and guidance to apprentice opticians.
• Adhere to privacy and confidentiality policies.
• Participate in training and educational activities.
• Diligently maintain cleanliness of equipment, workstations, and facility.
• Complete additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
• Knowledge and demonstrated abilities in optical products, prescriptions, fitting, and dispensing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer literacy.

Pay

Pay Class: Part Time, 0 - 19 hours per week
Pay: $27 - $40.50 per hour

Schedule

Position provides competitive pay and benefits. Specific terms are set forth in the Company’s collective bargaining agreement with a minimum pay rate of $27 per hour plus incentive. Starting pay may vary based on experience to a maximum of $40.50 per hour. Incentive pay, wage upgrades, and overtime opportunities also available.
