Retail Licensed Optician Part Time

Essential Responsibilities

• Aid customers in selecting frames, fitting, and dispensing frames.
• Utilize technical information to interpret prescriptions for frame and lens selection.
• Provide accurate product information about frames, lenses, and services to customers.
• Inform customers about benefits covered by third-party insurance and any additional charges.
• Use the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and make lens recommendations.
• Analyze and interpret patients' prescriptions, communicate with the lab and optometrist for accuracy.
• Sell, fit, and dispense frames and accessories using accurate measurements and adjustments.
• Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area.
• Ensure accuracy of customer pricing for retail customers.
• Maintain license requirements according to state guidelines.
• Provide feedback and guidance to apprentice opticians.
• Adhere to privacy and confidentiality policies.
• Participate in training and educational activities.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, workstations, and facility daily.
• Complete additional responsibilities as needed.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
• Demonstrated knowledge and abilities in optical products, prescriptions, fitting, and dispensing.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and use close vision most of the time.
• Occasionally sit, reach, lift up to 20 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Work in a moderate noise environment.

Union Position Compensation

Compensation is competitive and includes a minimum hourly rate of $24.50, with potential for wage upgrades and overtime. Starting pay may vary based on experience, up to a maximum of $36.75 per hour. Incentive pay and benefits are also available.
