Retail Licensed Optician Part Time

Essential Responsibilities

• Aid customers in frame and lens selection while adhering to social distancing requirements.
• Ensure compliance with cleaning protocols and hygiene practices during interactions.
• Provide accurate product information about frames, lenses, and other services to customers.
• Communicate accurately about Third-Party insurance benefits to help customers make informed decisions.
• Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate lens options.
• Analyze and interpret patients' prescriptions, communicate with the lab and optometrist for accuracy, and fit and dispense frames and accessories.
• Maintain a clean and organized dispensing area.
• Accurately price products for retail customers.
• Maintain necessary licenses according to state guidelines.
• Offer feedback and guidance to apprentice opticians.
• Adhere to privacy and confidentiality policies.
• Participate in training and educational activities.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, workstations, and the facility daily.
• Complete additional responsibilities as needed.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing
• Demonstrated knowledge and abilities in optical products, prescriptions, fitting, and dispensing

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and use close vision most of the time
• Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
• Work in a moderate noise environment

Union Position Compensation

Position provides competitive pay and benefits. Specific terms are set forth in the Company's collective bargaining agreement with a minimum pay rate of $24.50 per hour plus incentive. Starting pay may vary based on experience to a maximum of $36.75 per hour. Incentive pay, wage upgrades, and overtime opportunities also available.
