Responsibilities
- Assists in the overall management of the Retail Lending Operations Department, including the processing, underwriting and closing functions.
- Selects, supervises and provides for the continued development of assigned staff.
- Conducts performance reviews for direct reports and provides for ongoing guidance and support.
- Oversees the management of the residential loan pipeline.
- Formulates production and customer service standards, and the procedures to ensure performance according to said standards.
- Assists with the interpretation of state and federal regulations, and the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Responsible for regulatory compliance within assigned areas, and in particular, the management of the HMDA LAR and Regulation B Monitoring.
- Provides second review for the more complex loans or those required by policy.
- Sets and enforces loan quality, profitability and compliance standards.
- Ensures that transactions comply with the bank’s credit quality and loan documentation standards.
- Resolves unusual loan situations and/or customer complaints, and provides alternative solutions to meet customers’ needs.
- Works with members of the Loan Origination and Community Banking Departments to ensure that loan applicants receive the best possible service throughout the entire process.
- Facilitates internal and external exams and audits, assists with responses, and implements corrections.
- Ensures full compliance with the bank’s Information Security Policies and Procedures.
- Remains current on secondary market standards, communicates changes to the staff and incorporates them into the bank’s policies and procedures as appropriate.
- Suggests areas for efficiency and improvement as the need arises.
- Remains current on industry fraud and risk standards as they relate to lending and institutes practices within scope to protect the interests of the bank.
- Remains current on consumer and residential mortgage trends to help the bank remain current in the communities they serve by making recommendations to upper management.
- Maintain HEAT Loan program loan origination and reporting through properly documented procedures and practices.
- Maintain current procedures for closing and processing departments.
- Works with investors and state housing agencies in order to provide competitive and profitable loan products. Facilitates product development and implementation.
- Prepares and distributes a variety of recurring and special reports for use in the administration of the department and loan portfolio.
- Provides support to the Loan Servicing Department. Conducts reviews for requests such as subordinations, MI cancellations, partial releases and modifications.
- Affirms the most efficient and cost effective utilization of systems and software utilized within the department.
- Manages relationships of vendors assigned through regular check ins and escalating any issues as they arise.
- Maintains compliance with Vendor Management monitoring; including the onboarding of new vendors and satisfactory maintenance of existing vendors.
- Represents the bank through participation in community and industry organizations and promotes the interests of the bank throughout the community.
- Participates fully in assigned committees and groups within the bank.
- Performs other duties as may be required.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in lending specific training and/or experience is required.
- Work Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in processing and underwriting mortgage and/or consumer loans; management and supervisory experience is preferred.
- Additional Requirements: A demonstrated command of secondary market guidelines, industry standards and regulatory requirements. A strong working understanding of loan origination and lending related systems. Effective analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and customer service skills; the ability to work effectively with other areas of the organization and employees at all levels.
- Loan Authority: Up to the maximum as allowed within the Retail Lending Policy.
Pay
The expected annual pay range for this role is $76,463 to $135,731. This pay range is the annual salary we in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation paid may fluctuate higher or lower than the posted range and the range may be modified in the future due to several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, certifications, and qualifications, internal equity, adjustments to the requirements and responsibilities of the job, business needs, and economic and market data.
