Retail Facilities Associate - Part Time

Job Description

The Facilities Associate role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) ensures a clean, safe, and functional store environment by performing tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, emptying trash cans, dusting shelves, cleaning windows, and mopping floors. Responsibilities also include identifying and correcting maintenance and safety issues inside and outside the store, supporting merchandising activities, and providing exceptional customer service.

• Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, and maintain floors, steps, and other surfaces.
• Empty waste containers and dispose of interior trash, litter, and debris.
• Check and maintain bathrooms, breakrooms, and other supplies needed in the building.
• Maintain approaches to buildings by keeping them clear of debris, snow, and obstructions.
• Ensure all work areas, storage areas, and materials are safe, clean, and orderly, and that cleaning supplies are clearly labeled and stored.
• Assist with merchandising tasks, including stocking, displays, and pricing, and operate a cash register as needed.
• Communicate any issues to store leadership in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Prior facilities experience is required.
• Experience working in a retail environment or in customer service is preferred.
• Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and good verbal and written communication skills are preferred.

Work Environment

• Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
• Requires extended periods of moving, remaining stationary, ascending, descending, and positioning oneself to complete various tasks throughout the shift.
• Physical activities include using hand tools, ascending or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and lifting on a frequent basis; should be able to lift 35 lbs on a regular basis.
